As part of activities to commemorate the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, the Chairman Hon (Sir) John Cleton, Sunday led Members of the Transition Committee, Nigerian Legion, staff of the Council, in a Thanksgiving Service held in honor of fallen heroes and gallant soldiers who fought tirelessly for the unity of the nation.


The event which was held at The Apostolic Church, Ikono road, Ikot Ekpene, had in attendance, the Paramount Ruler of Ikot Ekpene, Okuku Okon Udoukut, the immediate past Chairman of the Local Government, Rt. Hon. Unyime Etim, the Divisional Police Officer Ikot Ekpene and a host of other dignitaries.


In his goodwill message, the Council Boss, Hon. Cleton, noted that the thanksgiving Serviceis was occasion to pay tribute to the country's fallen heroes who sacrificed to defend and protect the territorial integrity of the nation and ensuring that we remain one Nigeria.


He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed heroes and comfort for the families they've left behind.


Highpoint of the event was intercessory prayers by the church to the Transition Committee and the Nigerian Legion.
