The Chairman, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Transition Committee, Hon. John Cleton Etim, has conveyed the appreciation from Transition Committee Chairmen in the ten Local Government Areas in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District to Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno for finding them worthy to serve as Transition Committee Chairmen in their respective Local Government Areas


Mr. Etim who spoke onbehalf of his colleagues in Ikot Ekpene during an enlarged end of the year meeting of Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District Women which had the Governor's Wife as Special Guest of honour, said he was deeply appreciative of the Governor for finding them the opportunity to pilot affairs of their respective Local Government Councils, despite some stiff opposition from certain quarters.


He assured the Governor of their unflinchig loyalty and support towards the success of his administration, and thanked the Governor's Wife for visiting Ikot Ekpene.


The Ikot Ekpene Council commended the leadership and members of the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Women for the large turnout despite current economic challenges in the country, and assured the women of absolute support from the Council Chairmen. He announced financial support from the 10 Local Government Transition Chairmen to the Women.


“I've been part and parcel of what happens around here. The gathering of Women from this Senatorial District here today, shows capacity in leadership".


“Despite the harsh economic conditions our Women found time and courage to gather in this magnitude. We will continue to stand by the Women of this Senatorial District. We want to appreciate the Governor that despite the pressure we were found Worthy to be appointed as Transition Committee Chairmen in our respective Local Government Areas. We will continue to support this government to enable the Governor achieve his developmental blueprints, and we will support him to the end by God's grace".


“The ten Council Chairmen in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District will continue to support the women of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District".


Chairman of the occasion, Hon Barr. Prince Ukpong Akpabio thanked the Governor for recognising the women of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District with the appointment of two female Commissioners, 30 Personal Aides, and over 400 members of Transition Committee across the Senatorial District.


He pledged the continous support of the Senatorial District stakeholders towards the administration of Pastor Umoh Eno.


The President of the Senatorial District Women, Hon. Inibehe Silas Etukudo acknowledged the efforts of the women towards the success of the PDP during the last general elections, and like Oliver twist, pleaded with the Governor's Wife for more recognition, political appointments and employment opportunities for the Women.


Addressing the Women, the Governor's Wife, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno thanked the women for their support towards the electoral Victory of her husband at the election, and promised to return for a befitting thank you to the women.



Present during the event were, the  SSG, Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Offiong Offor, Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, a former Commissioner, Dr. Mrs. Glory Edet, Wife of the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mrs. Blessing Ebonguko who also as double as President of Commissioner's wife Association, Wife of the House Member for Essien Udim State Constituency, Mrs. Ndifreke Akpabio, among other dignitaries.
